Out Loud is a new scratch night for writers in Hull to see and hear their scripts performed by professional actors in front of a friendly audience. This programme allows writers to take risks and learn from them whilst getting paid. This programme supports up to 16 writers per year.
Kindly supported by the Split Infinitive Trust & previously by Hull playwright Richard Bean. There will also be the option of feedback from Alex Mitchell (Silent Uproar) and Paul Smith (Middle Child).

We’ve repurposed Out Loud to work digitally and so we’re asking Hull & East Riding based writers to submit scripts that they think are well suited to the radio.
Anything goes in terms of for but due to BBC broadcast regulations scripts must not include swearing or heavy adult content. Aside from these considerations we are particularly interested in seeing stories about Hull and the north, with space for four 10-15 minute scripts at each event.
WHAT WE OFFER
All scripts submitted will be read 'anonymously' with the writer’s names removed. We'll then choose four, with local actors paid to pre-record them. Our Artistic Director Alex Mitchell, and Middle Child's Paul Smith, plus two more guest directors will work with actors during a day of rehearsals.
That means as a chosen writer you can simply tune into the sharing and see your work brought to life with a ‘fresh’ set of eyes and ears. Writers will also receive a fee of £50. Submission is open to playwrights aged 18 or above, living ing Hull and the East Riding.
