COME OUT! - OUR NEW STEERING GROUP

We make theatre that’s loud, bold, and unapologetically human. Every step we are taking into 2026 is focused on creating queer and alternative culture and our audiences have always been at the centre of that.

As we enter a new era in 2026, we want to step up that commitment and collaboration, and the strand of that is called ‘Come Out!’. Led by a group of bold and beautiful queer or allied people on an official steering group, to shape our campaigns, projects and shows.

What’s it all about?

We want to know what’s right and relevant for queer and alternative culture in the North of England, so we can make brilliant shows and wrap-around activities, and communicate them in a way that fits a wider queer space. The Come Out! Steering Group will meet every 6 weeks to shape our activity and communication, share ideas, feedback and keep us connected to people with feet on the ground in our community. 
You don’t need to be a theatre person, an actor or an artist, you just need to care about creativity, community, and queer culture, and most importantly curating and creative safe spaces (online and offline) where joy and conversation is welcomed.

What the group will look like

​

• 8(ish) members

• Strong queer representation

• A variety of experiences and perspectives

• People of any age (18+)

• Relaxed, safe, and welcoming

What you’ll do

​

• Join us every 6 weeks (a mix of online and in-person) for discussions

• Feed into upcoming shows and events, and how we communicate them

• Act as ambassadors and co-conspirators for Silent Uproar

• Have a seat at the table to support curating work that matters

• Shape spaces and communities that are safe, joyful, and vital

The application deadline is 12pm on 10th November, although we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. We aim to contact all applicants with feedback or an invite to interview by 5pm on 12th November. We aim to have shortlisted our final group by the end of November and have our first meeting in December.
