WORKING HORROR!

WORKING HORROR research and development at the National Theatre Studio.

Silent Uproar is supported by the Generate Funding for Northern companies to develop Josh Val Martin’s Working Horror:

A team of telesales workers from the Stoke-based ethical distillery ‘Holy Gins’ embark on a team-building away-weekend in Scarborough. Their trip takes an unexpected turn when their Team Leader disappears en route to their Airbnb (a recently converted, abandoned Methodist church...)

What begins as a mystery, takes turns into the supernatural and outright horror, to explore the very real themes of the changing ways we work, and a generation’s desperate ambition for security.

Over the last week of January we will work with incredible actors and amazing collaborators to explore how to stage our first mid scale horror show.

We are so grateful that the amazing Mark Melville will be joining as our Sound Designer fresh off his incredible show Kin at the National Theatre, and Dr William Houston will be supporting us to think about illusion following his work on 2:22 A Ghost Story, and other Hollywood and West End pieces.
